Getting Started
Welcome
Welcome to my workshop on the principles and practice of andragogy as described by Knowles, Holton, and Swanson (2015). Essentially, andragogy is the theory of adult learning, as opposed to pedagogy which mainly addresses teaching of children. This site is oriented towards educators and has been developed as part of the instructional design in digital learning course at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Following please find some guidelines to help you navigate this workshop.
Workshop Overview
Do you wonder how you can promote greater engagement and deeper understanding in your adult learners? By completing this workshop you will be able to apply andragogical assumptions when appropriate to your teaching, allowing you to improve the learning climate for your adult learners.
Workshop Schedule
The workshop can be accessed in a sub-page titled "Andragogy Workshop". In this page you will find SMART learning objectives, a basic description of andragogy and how it differs from pedagogy, a sample video demonstrating teaching using the andragogical assumptions, and an assessment to measure your mastery of the learning objectives.
